There is a medieval mystery play on the subject of the martyr Saint Valentine in French, which I studies when reading modern languages at a university not to be mentioned in Oxford. It depicts the martyr being tortured and put to death by the ancient Romans for refusing to worship something called Mahmoud.

Needless to say, the only name medieval Europeans could think of attaching to pagan deities was Mohammed. It's not great drama, but couldn't be performed today for fear of causing outrage among the swarthy, bearded and excitable community.

Nice, Father; now sit back and watch that site meter go through the roof …
Other potential labels can doubtless be found through the good offices of Dr Roget.
